I see this dictum more as an internal mechanism. Like the Buddhists say: Don't discriminate. Let things be. Don't label it. Conceptual thought cannot grasp the reality underlying appearances.

Too often we presume our understanding is complete and are resistant to updating, because it means the position we've attached ourselves to is incorrect, and we along with it.
