Why is the establishment helping to screw over the peasants?
Conversation
Because of the ancient dictum: "Beat or be beaten." They figure whatever they don't control might grow in power & control THEM. As ugly as it is, it's a system that's worked & provided status & comfort for its practitioners for a long time. You've seen THIS, Right?

It sounds like you're convinced that the system is already too broken to be fixed. I'm more optimistic for the future of the country, because we don't really have any other choice if we're going to survive as a species.

We don't have any choice but to continue, no argument there. But, to be optimistic? Custer thought he'd be home for Dinner. :-) Every team has to believe they're going to win when they take the field - but half are wrong. I like what Camus said:
"A rebel does not require hope."

We're on the wrong path.

You got THAT right. My friends & I in the 1960s Counterculture told anybody who'd listen. I'm still doing it. We tried to make SOME changes, but the power of Big Money, Inc. w/its tentacles everywhere has largely prevailed. We're both still telling anyone who'll listen, Right?

For me, it's about the truth, the current moment, and the future. The people have to decide what they want to do. I just have trouble believing they wish to be exploited by the ruling oligarchy because the establishment is convinced that the system is already too broken to fix.

I don't think anyone "wishes to be exploited." Is that what you think I'm saying?

I believe the people are being exploited like any natural resource. This is what they teach in university: how to exploit natural resources.

The Establishment eventually gets overthrown and some new people take over and they become the new establishment. For instance, the Bolshevik Revolution, the Nazi takeover of Germany, the Maoists, etc., etc.
Yes, the system is very volatile. Intelligent social consciousness is helpful in overcoming the divide in awareness that currently exists, but it will take time. One side has completely blocked out the other on Twitter. There's little communication or agreement between the two.

"Goodbye to the old boss; Hello to the new boss!" It not hard 2 C: U need people on your side who are capable of as much sneakiness & brutality as any who would come against you. That's just one more challenge of trying to humanely & justly organize & govern the masses.
Ouch!
