I agree with para 2 but not 1. You don't agree that absence of suffering is good? Or that not having a child doesn't deprive the child you might have had of anything? #antinatalism

The asymmetry argument is fallacious. You cant compare something to nothing. It's hard to kill yourself because the body is millions of years old & has a built-in genetic predisposition to survive.

The asymmetry argument compares (X exists) to (X never exists). It's impossible to compare that which exists to that which never exists. The non-existent has no attributes. It cannot even be conceived.

Comparing two states of the world, one in which X exists vs one in which X never existed, doesn't require comparing an existing person with a non-existent one.

Uh, yeah... no other prominent antinatalist ascribes to the asymmetry grid. Read Schopenhauer, Or Zapffe. Or Ligotti. Or Inmendham. Or my twitter account. And on and on. Imposing life on others is analogous to kidnapping, enslavement & murder. It's obvious.
