Shirley was as gracious and as nice as can be to that man. And all he did was spew hatred about her and the church and then he would renounce "hatespeech". The irony is thick with this one.

I think Shirley is the brains behind the church now that her father, Fred Phelps, has died. There are some documentaries with him in them. He's an old school "fire & brimstone" preacher. Quite an impressive figure. An artifact from a bygone era.
