(2) (...) while the rest of the world will exist for billions of years. At 18, I naively believed a religious group's prediction that the world would end a few years from then. I was ecstatic. In the next few years, and in the next decades, nothing happened.

(3) How disappointed I was! Nostradamus' prophecy didn't come true, either. While the world is around, we -- at least I -- have to live on. While I live, I have to keep on doing something to bring food on the table and to minimize the misery of my own and of others around me.

This is MIT. This ain't no superstitious religious bullshit. So far, their computer is right on target.
(1) To me, science and religion boils down to the same thing in that people want to believe what they want to believe. They used to believe what religion told them because it was the highest authority they knew back then. Today, science seems to have superseded it.
