I always ask people where is this part of themselves located that is free from the laws of physics?
(1) All of you are absolutely right. We're all machines programmed to respond automatically to external stimuli. When it rains, earthworms get out of the ground. When a positive electrode comes up to a negative electrode, they cling to each other.

(2) Love, friendship, hate, seemingly complex emotions, and even philosophical thoughts are nothing but combinations of such automatic reactions. It's just that the mechanism is so complex that it is hard for us humans to elucidate.
