The Gutenberg Galaxy came out before Understanding Media. This McKenna tape is pretty old and his "facts" are a bit jumbled. McLuhan was a genius. His books are all in print today. You can pick up a McLuhan text & open it anywhere & immediately be captivated

Yeah McKenna got a few things wrong chalk it up to pre-internet research and a memory compromised by high powered hallucinogens.

I love to listen to him talk, too. A brilliant orator, master of English literature, pithy witticisms, full of jokes and puns, and uncanny prophetic insights regarding the trahsformation of our species by the electronic media.
