Who told you the US was progressive? Haha. A judge in Michigan just threw out a case against female genital mutilation. Allahu akbar, right? A nazi just mass murdered a dozen Jews in Pittsburgh. Oh, yeah... we're progressive as fuck

There's no legalized prostitution in the US. And some of the gay/lesbian legislation is being repealed in some parts of the country. There seems to be a right wing populist movement going on, nowadays. It remains to be seen if it continues or not.

Could not agree more. Legalized prostitution would cut down on sexual assaults, too, probably. Men are stressed sexually. Prostitutes provide a service that relieves that stress. Why that is illegal I have no idea.

I think many prostitutes were young females who were raped & so they just started turning tricks. But I'm sure there are many other ways they get into it. Drug addiction is another one. But yeah... legalize & regulate it would help with the social ills.
