To me, "feeling like a train wreck" is not a good sign

The Arabs have a very long history of Ramadan. As an Arab, you may be much more comfortable with fasting than we non-Arabs can be. I have no idea when fasting can begin to be risky. In any case, I hope everything will be all right.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast during the day & then gorge themselves at night only to return to the fast again at sunrise

Thank you, Antwan and Sarah. I had somehow got confused about how Ramadan really works. So Ramadan fasters get to eat every night, huh? No wonder the Ramadan-fasting laborers managed to work all right on a construction site under intense heat in Iraq, where I was working.

I tried to fast Ramadan once with some Muslims. I couldn't do it. I'm weak. The Shaitan's got a hold on me. I got no iman. I am destined for the jahannam. Antwan the Damned.

...and to break the fast, they would give everyone dates. I enjoyed that, mashallah.

I liked them. Some lived in the same building where I lived. They got me into it. It was back in the 90's. Islam is like a subculture. It was different. I started studying & learning about it. I just never had any faith. I've tried other religions. Same thing
