I dont celebrate holidays either. I abhore Christmas. It ruins December. People become more idiotic than usual. I dont tell anyone my birthday. It comes & goes like any other day. If someone wants to celebrate I dont condemn them for it. I try to avoid it tho

I'm a Sagittarius with Cancer rising. I think my moon is in Taurus, but I can't remember for certain. I might still have a natal chart packed away in a box somewhere. Hahaha. I used to hang out with Wiccans & occultists a long, long time ago.

Well, with the moon in Taurus, this gives me a strong Taurean flavor, at least, psychologically and emotionally. The Sun dictates the overt personality, the moon covers more of the inner side of the psyche. The rising sign is also heavily influential.

W/ Cancer rising, I am very empathic, I feel things very strongly. Aries & Sagittarius are good together. The Aries are the go getters, the initiators, with a "can do" attitude. Sags are a bit more laid back than Aries. They like to try things, take new roads

I'm not a strong believer in astrology but sometimes astrologers can read a person's personality traits with uncanny accuracy by doing a natal chart. I knew a few & studied it a little bit. I also became adept with the Tarot. I've dabbled in most everything

I wanted to learn the runes but never got around to it. Used to meditate a lot, shikantaza Zen style. Would meditate until my knees howled. Ha! But I got away from it. Meditation will mellow you out. But hell I'm mellow enough, now. Maybe too mellow.

All of these methods of seeking for enlightenment or higher consciousness & so on only result in more suffering in the end becuz they never deliver. I think the best way to happiness or, at least, staying calm, come from giving up the search & accepting it

(1) Well, as for me, that seeking for enlightenment did mean more suffering when I wans younger, say, until in my thirties or so, because in that process I really did want to find something to put an end to my suffering. Yes, I desperately wanted that.

It is the seeking, in itself, which creates the suffering. It creates a divisiveness in the psyche, an unease, a disturbance. It is the "want", the "desire" which results in suffering. Wanting to be happy, you are unhappy. If there is no want, all is well.

Wow, I admire you a great deal, Antwan. So you've been doing a great deal, reading a wide variety of philosophical and religious books and attending sessions of many different kinds of spiritual training.

When I got into a religion or something like that, I would not only study it, I would seek out practitioners thereof. I would immerse myself in the given culture, to the best of my ability. You got to go be with them to truly get an understanding of them...
