I had no idea Halloween was global. I guess global capitalism has sold it as a commodity thru out the world. It's rooted in medieval Europe. It seems weird to me that it is celebrated in New Zealand.
China is promoting Christmas in schools
(no Jebus of course, just like in the west)
in the hopes of establishing a consumer society
that can compete with Duh Homeland.

The Church incorporated elements of the pagan rituals into their religion so as to get the Europeans to more readily accept Christianity. And, by God, it worked. Neither Easter nor Xmas can be found in the Bible.
And now things have come full circle, just as local pagan beliefs were absorbed by the dominant regional ideology(Christianity), now regional beliefs are being absorbed by the dominant global ideology of pan consumer capitalism.
