When I was a kid I was morbidly depressed. My mom used to get angry & yell at me "Snap out of it!" Little did she know that she was one of the sources of my depression.

Yep. Same here. Mine started when I was about 7yrs. It was misdiagnosed as other shit, off-and-on, as it persisted through high school. This was the 1960s, when children just weren’t diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. My parents were sure I was just being lazy & weird.

I was poor. There was no healthcare. Unless you were really bleeding severely. I have old friends who remember me in late teens, early 20's who say I would get in dark moods that scared them. I remember writing on the wall in my own blood. Shit like that.
