And why are all of the days of the week named after ancient pagan Norse & Germanic gods?
The Japanese, on the other hand, call the days of the week after the sun, the moon, and five other planets of the solar system. They say that this custom comes from ancient Chinese and Egypt separately. The ancient Chinese and Egyptians happened to have identical systems.

I did not know that
The Modern Chinese, on the other hand, call the days of the week this way: star period 1 (for Monday), star period 2 (for Tuesday), star period 3, and so on.

In America, I like Wednesday because that is Woden's Day. He was the one eyed god of the ancient Teutons who hung upside down on a tree for nine days until he gained much wisdom and so forth and so on.
