I live in a poverty stricken area. I gave all of my furniture away to local people (except for a bed). If someone comes to visit, I offer them a folding chair. I rarely get visitors. If they talk about me, I don't care. People suck. Why care what they think?

I can see how, when you're young, people making class distinctions about you can be offensive. But, now, that we are older & understand how ignorant & deluded the general population is, we should not give a damn what they think.
If you care what someone else thinks, then you are their slave
