The problem is that no one knows the real, universal truth about anything. There is no god, no set of standards that applies to anything. The only thing that we could rely on is this feeble intelligence. But this intelligence always deceives us. We think in ways convenient to us.

If it is the Devil that created us all, then I want to KNOW that it is the Devil. If the Devil wants us to perish, then I want to KNOW that we deserve to die. Devil or God, I want some real superbeing to speak the truth to us. But the fact is always that there is no such being.

If a devilish being up there or down there wants us all to perish, then I want him to destroy us all right away. But the fact of the matter is that there is no such thing. The universe, together with all living things in it, just "is." It is eternally silent, signifying nothing.

The superbeing created the universe because he was bored. He desperately needed something to entertain him. He is a quintessential sadist. He is like one of those guys who put their fighting chickens into a pen, where the birds are urged to kill each other to amuse the watchers.
