People have babies for themselves, not for the babies' sake. The baby has no say over the matter, no control or input whatsoever. They are purely the victim of the parents' machinations.

There’s no reason for doing it that’s in the baby’s interest. Except religion- by giving them life then they might, after dying, be in Heaven forever. Creating souls is a thing, cruel, & they will not stop no matter how nasty existence gets.
