People in general act like humanity is going somewhere, like we are accomplishing some great task, making progress & so on. I don't get it. For christsake, the planet is a giant slaughterhouse. It's pain & suffering & slaughter & carnage everywhere you look.

Half the world's population lives on two dollars a day. The utter poverty, deprivation, constant tribal warfare, archaic primitive social systems, degradation & humiliation of everyday life for most people is unimaginable by those of us who live in the West.
