As are expanded playoffs. If it ever goes to 14 teams, there'll be zero incentive to make a real effort.

Baseball has gotten lazy. So have I. I’m to lazy to watch it.

I would say that I need to write this expansion piece I've been threatening for three years. If you were building MLB today, no, you wouldn't have teams in Cincinnati *and* Cleveland *and* Pittsburgh.

You're right that clubs can make money without trying to win. Owners have learned that spending a lot of money on player salaries doesn't guarantee winning and if you spend a lot of money and don't win it guarantees losing money. In general teams want to win but winning is hard.
