I worked in the coffee bar at Urban Fare in Edmonton when it first opened. Must have been 1999. Glen Sather was my personal reference, flexed my connections to get the job. hahahaha. No idea what the pay was, but my guess would be about $7-8.

You two and your fancy $6.25 jobs... In 03/04 I made $5.90 at Cinema City 12. I eventually got to climb a (now looking back on it dangerous) ladder and change out the signs once a week for a whopping $0.25 raise.

Safeway cashier. 1975 $4.90 per hour. This was way before computers. You had to say the price of the item as you typed in the amount. You had to memorize all the sale items. Customer service was paramount.

Holy, that sounds amazing for 1975! I made less than that starting in 1991! McDonald's, Ontario minimum wage went up to $4.55 per hour, I think shortly after I started.
