Same thing happened with CoD WWII. Happens every time there's a new female playable character in an existing IP.
After being called the n-word and asked to die by nintendo fanboys over a single word tweet...I'm not surprised by anything from gamers/fanboys anymore. And I feel all this hate/environment was always there, they're just feeling even more emboldened/vocal these days.
