I'm with you there, I went back to it recently and my god. It's visually so stunning. It feels so much better to move around that city than the most recent AC games. It's absolutely one of the best, tech wise.

The lighting and materials still look incredible, and the parkour animations and controls blow my mind to this day. Similar to AC3, Unity was a fundamental shift for the series that wasn’t too well received at the time but in retrospect still impresses.

Honestly i would rather see Ubisoft improving LOD via patch. That is what hurts visuals in Unity the most. You have amazingly rendered visuals for like 50m and then PS2 era textures and geometry after that :(
