Is Monster Hunter World a game you can play alone and enjoy or is it something I need to rely on humans online to play with. Never played a Monster Hunter game

you can technically play it alone but it's kind of boring that way. additionally, it doesn't do a good job of tutorializing things / sort of assumes you've played the other 7 (or whatever) MH games.
does a terrible job at even letting you play in co-op anyways. was the one reason i bought it and couldn't get it working with a buddy most of the time.
