When I hear someone I love using my pronouns correctly, it actually feels amazing and makes me feel so happy and safe. Just wanted to share that

It's Monday morning and I'm discussing my mother's genitals with TERFs. That's enough twitter for this week.

The only comments on the actual incident from these individuals was that they were angry I was being "treated" at all, even if it was as a second class citizen. No amount of transphobia is enough for these people. They just want to fight and fight and fight and fight and fi...

It's weird how I was treated like a second class citizen for being trans and the TERFs didn't care. But when (sort of) apologised, then they had a big issue.

Oh, cool fact: I was doing some research into my family history and discovered that my great grandmother was assigned male at birth! Admittedly, it was most likely just a clerical error when filling out the birth certificate, but still cool. Wanted to share it before I forgot.

Why would want to Google pseudoscientific rubbish? They may as well be googling chemtrails and flat earth. As for the porn, if that's what they want to look at in their own time, who am I to judge? Although again, not sure how it relates to the issue at hand...

Also, why is it suspicious that I, having recently submitted a dissertation on this stuff, have some degree of background knowledge to bring to twitter?

I was wondering how long it would be before the "it never happened" crew turned up. I find this allegation particularly amusing. If I had a thread "ready to post" then why would I post it at around midnight when nobody else was online?a

Do you happen to have any information on M&S' policy on this? Would be good to know where they draw the line.

In conclusion, yes I'm probably going to end up wearing a full length dress with leggings or something because I don't want to cause a scene. But next time I hear a "gender critical feminist" describe trans women as "exaggerations of femininity", I will not be impressed.

While I'm here, I'd like to thank for the majority of the images in this thread, and for all the wonderful allies out there who recognise how difficult this is.

Like it or not, I have boobs, and unless you want to see my nipples poking through my very womanly *checks notes* apron and petticoat, I am going to need a brassiere. I'd much rather have one that fits. How much thought am I required to put into my outfit to be allowed service?

Throughout history, the criminalisation of "cross dressing" has always been a popular tool for controlling queer communities. You can understand my discomfort in potentially being denied service in a clothes store under the same principles.

So here I am, in 2020, looking through my wardrobe keeping this history in mind. I'm reminded of the Anti-Masquerading Laws written about by Clare Sears in "Arresting Dress" published by

I should add that I certainly don't think these ridiculous restrictions should be applied to cis women. But if you can recognise how harmful it would be to apply them to cis women, then you can recognise how harmful it is to apply them to trans women as well.

Refusing service to people who don't conform to your binaristic notions of "correct" gender presentation is regressive and archaic, but even in the 18th Century people recognised the impossibility of consistently applying these standards, however old-fashioned they seem to us now
