If I had to guess, I'll bet the book you're reading is a fairly old one? Maybe when "home computers" were a thing, and perhaps before the web took over?

Ah, nope. Google suggests more like 2014. Oh well. Still, Moore's original quote seems more insightful than the abridgement. Full paper is a fun, quick read, too!
