SSo I finished reading Peterson's book (after going back to @slatestarcodex 's review and @alexeyguzey 's recommendation). It's hard to evaluate, and this is why I think has generated such polarising reaction.

I found it valuable to abstract away from the specific Good vs Evil spin he attempts to frame his advice and just extract valuable nuggets. I do think his views on the meaning-based motivational structure (if that's the way to frame it) interesting and warranting more discussion

He reminds me of Rand somewhat. Incredibly high verbal intelligence, very attractive to young men, dismissed by a lot of people on superficial (or intentionally misleading) readings of what he wrote or said. Kinda makes you wonder what she would be like in the age of Youtube
