The Daily Mile (having kids run for 15 minutes/day) doesn't help with childhood obesity. Unsurprising, since phys ed interventions generally don't. Here's 's take:

The dietary supplement conundrum: Most do nothing, so don't take those. The ones that do something can be dangerous, so don't take those either. Yet we're spending $35 billion a year on this crap. I wrote about it.

It was a complete fantasy that suddenly everyone could afford a private driver, servants fetching food, and assistants running errands without workers being exploited AND simultaneously creating multi-billion dollar gig-app companies. Complete fucking fantasy.

Gig exploitation math is very simple. IRS sets the standard mileage deduction every year based on avg costs for fuel, maintenance, tires, insurance, and depreciation. In 2019, it’s 58 cents/mile. Doordash pays $5 for 10 mile delivery INC tips. Net loss to driver: 80 cents.

Vegetables are great! We all need to eat more of them, but for nutrients, not calories, and with the understanding that they're resource intensive. They are a tiny sliver of our ag (1% of US crop acres), and their GHG footprint is all but irrelelvant.

This family owned Spanish wine producer is buying huge swathes of land (in, eg, Patagonia) that are slightly too cold to produce wine grapes now, but will be warm enough in 50 years. Planning ahead for climate change is a growth industry.
