Another thing about hope is that hope without action in hope's direction is hopeless. Action is hope.
Hope is an antidote to cynicism; and cynicism is the best ally of the status quo. Hope is the belief that the world can be better if you do the work to make it so. Hope is a muscle that requires work and determination – which is why I'm more connected to Hard-Edged Hope.

Hope is related to vision and in the words of Lau Tzu 'Without vision the people will perish' We must be hopeful and inspire hope in others. We can be better. We can do better. This world can be better. Not just by looking at it ... and waiting (in hope) .. but by making it so!

Cynicism is tied to the status quo. In the sense that cynics doubt people's intentions. They believe people have ulterior motives. Well, they are accurate in their assessment :)
