This new NYT piece begins at Dordt College, just like 's book, and features a very similar framing.
NYT on left, Du Mez on right. Maybe this is par for the course for media but it seems unethical that Du Mez is not named/linked in this piece.

Fun Sioux Center fact: the 8th circuit court judge mentioned in the piece is brother. Also this piece by is worth reading also.

Not really my place to intervene, but both the book and piece have been in process independently for some time. And, tbh, if you’re covering the political scene in tiny Sioux Center, you cannot *not* frame things with the Trump speech.

I wrote an opinion piece in the Cape Argus in South Africa a few years back framing SA politics within the 1804 US election. Months later a Cape Town-based NYT columnist invoked the 1804 US election as a framing device for SA politics. It was ... frustrating.
