If you're using Steam Spy data (or, any data) for comps don't just drop Owners numbers and call it a day. Really unpack a comp and explain why a game matters relative to yours. "We think this game is relevant because..." are the magic words

One of the most missed caveats of a comp is that games launch and perform in their own fixed time and space, surrounded by its own time capsule of trends, market conditions, and genre/player expectations. Be mindful that comps have depth beyond art, genre, and mechanics

Playing oracle to your game's success next year using aging estimated data is a HARD thing to do. Be methodical and ask a lot of "why." Be realistic, gut-check with other developers. Rebalance your expectations and comps as the market/game changes

And finally, just a pet-peeve but PLEASE cite sources. If the data is coming from Steam Spy please say so [Steam Spy, July 2018]. Pasting the high range of a Steam Spy Owners number and calling it actual Steam sales is being reckless with data
