“Designed poorly” seems like it’s almost an oxymoron. I think many of the negative experiences we have are the result of things that weren’t designed enough. (If we agree that design is simply being thoughtful and purposeful about what you create)

I wish it were an oxymoron. But think about places that design in order to trap you into clicking on an ad. Or that infamous Stand Your Ground law graphic, which was actually designed to tell the opposite story it told visually, by a poorly skilled dataviz designer.

That's exactly why I started teaching. I couldn't extend the influence of my design insight on my own more usefully or more widely than by designing a great course and teaching it. Now there are students doing their own amazing designs.

Devil’s Advocate Question Jared - Who is going to create roles for Design Leaders? Don't design leaders focus on delivery instead of politics? Shouldn't majority of their time be spend on cultivating and growing of craftsmanship within org instead of selling practices? tnx

I love playing Devil’s Advocate. (Warning: I currently have the high score.) It’s a great question. Let me give it a shot.
