We have so much work to do, but we will do it. We hope with this being public, the public will hold us accountable. It is in PDF form here: https://history.jhu.edu/2020/07/07/history-department-resolution-on-black-lives-matter/ …

Thank you to my colleagues, especially my junior cohort for this work. There is a paragraph here about white faculty doing the work because Black faculty are exhausted. THEY DID THE WORK. It is possible, people. Thank you @CaseyLurtz for being point.

And grateful as well to my junior folks of color (all three of us, lol) who found ways to make this document and the proposed structural changes coalitional and accountable without decentering Blackness.

The whole faculty then stepped up to the commitments laid out and signed on to get to work. But we know the proof is in the popcorn. Onward.

This is a remarkable document, Jessica. I wish other departments were looking internally as much instead of just stating BLM, George Floyd, etc.

This is really great! It is what I wanted our department statement to look more like. Thank you for sharing and for your work on this.
