Sent out our first “friends-of” update for the new venture today. It’s a super exciting feeling - and probably why, despite the very real financial risks and a nearly impossible amount of hard work, I keep doing this. Startups are one hell of a drug.

Apparently "Died Suddenly" is trending, which means it's time to point out that COVID vaccines have saved tens of millions of lives worldwide, hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin STILL don't work against COVID, and Bitcoin is down by more than 50% YTD. Have a nice day.

This is legitimately the most insanely-cool thing I've seen in internet land since... well, basically ever. EVERY electron app could be a dedicated node.

For the first time, GitHub has surpassed $1 billion in ARR. This achievement is a direct testament to the ingenuity and dedication of our Hubbers, and the longstanding trust held in us by the developer community and our customers. And we know this is just our beginning.(1/3)

Somehow this thread reminds me of OpenStack packaging / versioning decisions…

Okay. So. I'm building this app that's distributed by Helm, right? I'm separating out the Helm chart repo from the app repo--because apparently that's what people do. I have a lot of questions.

Sure, I could answer your email, and instantly forget about it. Or I could leave it unanswered, such that it lives in my mind exerting a slow, daily pressure, and I feel your spectral presence always beside me for countless weeks, and in a way, wouldn't you prefer that?

I’m going to say it louder for the folks in the back: Micro-services solve a team scaling problem, not a tech problem. Container orchestration solves a micro-services deployment problem. Most of y’all have neither. Use a PaaS.

Watching the ever-spreading wave of container hysteria, and people solving problems they not only don’t have, but will probably NEVER have, and I remember seeing how @anotherjesse ran a global top-50 property on a single VM - for years.

Finding product-market fit is a combination of 3 things: The product. The customer you're targeting. And the messaging you use to sell to this customer. You should test and iterate on all 3 dimensions at the same time to increase your chances of finding PMF.

Thanks so much @jasoncwarne for your mention during our IPO last year. I couldn’t respond at that time due to quiet period guidance, which I mention in this blog post about the #IPO process that contains a bunch of things I learned:

I will literally pay ANY ARBITRARY DOLLARS for a cypher-supporting graph DBaaS that isn't run by the ass-clowns at .

They turn the database off and send you an innocuous "proactive ticket" from support... right before a weekend where no one is available, and it takes them SIX DAYS to bring the db back online.

What is the *right* thing for a DBaaS vendor to do when a customer goes over their storage quota?

OK - It took me a dozen hours of research (and meeting with several of the candidates personally), but I've come up with my own "slate" of the 8 candidates for Victoria city council that I'll be voting for. YMMV! I'll share my process and thoughts; hopefully it's helpful.

Real talk for younger voters. Biden delivered on two major policies I never thought I’d see: Student loan forgiveness and marijuana pardons. If you don’t vote in midterms, you’ll be telling every politician in America passing policies younger voters care about doesn’t matter.
