    Speaking as a parent with kids in lower grades: kill the bill. Teach the facts. This is idiocy.

    The Senate is now debating , which would ban sex ed before fifth grade. This bill has been more than a year in the making.

    Yep. I’m far more likely to shop somewhere if I don’t feel like the other shoppers are raging assholes who care more about their own slight increase in comfort at the expense of my health.

    At this point lifting mask-mandate might actually be bad for business by making risk-averse people reluctant to go to stores with no real upside at all.

    I’m gonna do a serious post about this — books that are 30 years old should be in the public domain and just available at least in digital form basically for free forever. Unlike with most “cancel” stuff there’s a bona fide policy issue here with broad implications.

    From what I understand, this is very good news. The COVID-19 vaccines may be a bit confused by the different variants, but they can still attack them and have good success subduing them.

    A recent study shows Pfizer’s and Moderna’s vaccines are protective against SARS-CoV-2 variant P.1. Despite some reduction, loss of neutralizing activity was modest (2.8 & 2.2 fold) & reduction was not as striking as observed prior against B.1.351. 🧵

    I’ve never before seen the framing that a property tax is a wealth tax on working people. Is that right? It seems to be at least partially true. (It’s on some wealth, rather than all wealth.) I’ve been warming up to the idea of a wealth tax and this raises the temp quite a bit.

    We now have a small annual tax on the main source of wealth of working families: property tax on homes. A wealth tax like ⁦⁩ proposes just applies the same to main sources of wealth over $50 million - in a time of obscene wealth inequality.

    😢 My favorite weather app, hands down. I’m sad that being a paying customer didn’t help to keep the app alive. I hope that its unique features (the eponymous weather line and location views, including Home Assist) live on in another app.
