...1 of the latinas, fourth generation Texan, is a rock-ribbed Repub. Even converted her husband. She dug Trump, said he was right about the “infestation” in American cities. The other 2 women were Dems, loathe Trump. Couldn’t wait to interject.

Early in my time in DC a Dem operative told me that many TX Hispanics were sour on Dems because of the old-school, machine-style white Democrats who ran many South Texas counties with an iron fist. Dems hadn't overcome that legacy, even w/ partisan shifts in the state.

It’s more complicated than that & South Texas latinos still largely vote for Democrats.The Rio Grande Valley votes republican in some non-local elections. Voted Bush for president example. Latinos often vote like their neighbors. And many are Catholic, so abortion.
