NEW: Establishment Dems are growing increasingly nervous about the BERNIE threat - and a messy convention
Why?
-His bottomless online $
-Massive field
-A mere 15% threshold for delegates
-Early Super Tues
And what
or sticks are there for him?https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/16/us/politics/bernie-sanders-democratic-party.html …

Even the most outspoken Bernie critics - like Brock! - grasp the conundrum they face: rallying the party’s donor class to fund a Stop Bernie effort would also be online $ gold for...Bernie. “You can see him reading the headlines now: ‘Rich people don’t like me.’”

While the anxiety among many establishment-types is about Bernie, there are others in the party (who don’t want to be quoted!) who are nervous simply bc of the rules and big field: Longtime pros believe they will *not* have a nominee at end of the primary

Was lost in the CAP flap over weekend, but BERNIE is offering honey as well as vinegar: he invited
@rweingarten, a major Hillary ally, to join him in Ohio Sunday. And on first trip to Iowa as candidate,, he met privately w@linkiowa & fmr Ag Sec@pattyforiowa about rural policyShow this thread -
As
@taddevine - Bernie's longtime consultant till this election - put it to me: “If anybody thinks Bernie Sanders is incapable of doing politics, they haven’t seen him in Congress for 30 years. The guy is trying to win this time.”Show this thread -

As there should be! Good lord. I'm not a Sanders-ite, but for GOD'S sake don't let there be anything REMOTELY Clinton-related organized against him. Recipe for a bloodbath. On Twitter AND in real life.
-
My GOD don't let David Brock near anything important this time.
-
I genuinely don't understand how a mea culpa over The Real Anita Hill qualifies him for anything

Got it - they're running the same "stop Bernie at all costs" playbook they ran in 2016, but this time they need to do it discreetly to be careful not to alienate his followers. Hey, I know the perfect guy to head-up this delicate hit job - David Brock!pic.twitter.com/HzFudDSh6V

Or they could just you know like up behind Bernie, forgo the mess, and win.
-
I'd rather win with a democrat though.
-
Cool. According to their own website, Bernie is part of democratic leadership, so you're good.pic.twitter.com/5h2CIiRZ3R

Bernie martyrdom happened in 2016. I prefer to ignore him and bolster Democrats running. The media makes Bernie.....and I for one refuse to participate in helping them.
-
It’s quite the opposite. His money is coming from small donors.
-
That's ... a non sequitur. Of course he has a bunch of small donors. But he's already lost 15 points worth of people who were with him in '16, and that number's only going up. Lots of other candidates eating into his base.
