Sorry his theories are not based in fact and many addiction researchers have proved his theories as incorrect. Nice man and helps but his soft approach is harmful to many in Vancouver

As
@equalityAlec emphasizes, it is mass incarceration that has no justification, especially in pursuit of our failed counterproductive drug war.#DefundThePolice and fund effective medical solutions like that doctor shares.https://twitter.com/ChasingPodcast/status/1291174243829460992 …Paul added,

Very untrue. There is thousands of cases where someone arrested and jailed found court mandated counseling and rehab has helped them get free of drugs. And while in jail their crimes stopped. Catch and release helps no one.

Actually our scientists, specifically our epidemiologists emphasize that mass incarceration is much more existentially dangerous for the public especially in this moment of pandemic, than releases.https://sfdistrictattorney.org/policy/justice-driven-data/an-epidemic-inside-a-pandemic/ …

Paul please stop. SF has no mass incarceration. I went to the sheriff and got the stats. There’s room at the inn. 50% capacity.
@chesaboudin bragged that he let “40% of the jail population go” during Covid. And the deaths of Asian elders have zero to do with mass incarceration.2 replies 1 retweet 11 likes -

Susan, do you have any empirical evidence that any acts of violence are linked to lower incarceration? If not, you should probably not post publicly suggesting a link. It looks a lot like what Republicans did with Willie Horton.

There is a virtual scientific consensus that increasing incarceration has nothing to do with safety. When you make comments like this, you only get more resources for cops, and more violence in poor communities and communities of color. I hope you'll learn more.

Honestly a lot of you San Francisco professional elites sound like Exxon denying climate science on this issue. You don't realize how embarrassing it sounds to people who spend their lives studying this issue. I know you mean well and care about violence, but you're not informed.

Professional elites??? I'm a native of sf, renter, attended public schools as did my kids. I've had addicts and gang members in my family. I've worked with the homeless and addicted for 30 yrs. Not elite just know from training and experience what works and what experts claim

in your experience, has 40 years of the most unhinged incarceration the modern world has ever seen worked? has it made everyone magically safe and ended violence?
