Oh cool , I was a pc gamer through all that period, I have a stack of pcs from 486 - P2 I stream off . I have to say the biggest game changer was the advent of the 3DFX type cards, up until then pc couldnt match console, but suddenly console owners started to look in envy at pc

Awesome! And yes, 3DFX was a huge turning point--and the point where 3D games started to make me nauseous. 😂 There were also flickers of 486 PCs surpassing 16-bit consoles (no 2D hardware sprites/scrolling, but CPUs compensated), and of course all the PC-only games

I vividly remember IBM's Decathlon from the early 80s...using two keys to "run" the 100-meter dash. That was before what you cover in the book, right? :)

YES! And yeah, Decathlon was before this book, in 1983--I covered it in two earlier books about Atari, Adventure and Breakout.

This is all well and good, but have you explored the TI-99/4A as a gaming platform?
