You can make a case that Kobe was a better person when he died, or that one incident doesn't stand for the totality of the man, and that's fine. But if you think he's an unproblematic symbol of all that's good with the NBA, you're ignoring victims of sexual assault.

So if Kobe becomes the literal symbol of the NBA, that won't hurt anyone? Because that's what this is saying -- we should make a credibly-accused rapist the very symbol of the league. Kobe is not just that act. Nobody is just one act. But it's a part of his legacy.
