There were so many people who told me that @miamiherald would never do the real story behind Jeffrey Epstein that I went to @MindyMarques at the outset to make sure she understood that this was going to be a story about very powerful people...(2)
My editor, @caseyfrank1 had to personally assure one important source (who had never spoken) that the Miami Herald would not shelve the story under pressure. (3)..,
I hope that the public understands the pressure that all journalists face in going up against very powerful forces — and how important it is to support journalism — especially now. We are not the enemy of the people.
