Why is it so hard to understand for some people that appropriating the immigrant and national identity and experience of an entire group of people is not ok, no matter how good your language skills are? I’m looking at you “Hilaria” Baldwin!!

It would have been ok to say that you love the culture, or even that you feel very identified with the culture because you spent time there in your childhood. You cross the line when you attribute to yourself a fake identity to gain social and cultural capital.
