Common sense tells me the vaccines produce the spike proteins which could skew the actual infection rates by testing for the spike protein. What part of the virus they are testing for?

Could it be the vaccines used reduce symptoms enough that you don't feel sick, but you can still infect others? If that is the case, then any symptom based disease control will fail. Similar for herd immunity strategy.

The Sinovac and Cansino vaccines used in Chile are known to be ineffective. As for the increase, someone suggested it's a seasonal effect - winter in Chile. Can that be accounted for ? Has such a strong seasonal effect been seen elsewhere? Thnx

Not really, the ppl that r dying in Chile are not fully vaccinated. The deaths decreased in vaccinated people but the sickness not. With a bad control of the pandemic situation the cases increased more than ever so, is obvious the deaths increased too as well.
