These comments raise questions not just about Lula’s foreign policy, but how he defines “democracy” overall. Does being on side of “the people,” ie leftist, make the jailing & torture of political opponents nothing more than a “narrative of authoritarianism,” as he says here?

We just finished a study on status and the economy of PR (available in my Research Gate page). Strongest conclusion: "nothing would be worse than having to pay federal taxes without the benefits of statehood, referring to “incorporated territory” status."

#PuertoRico firefighters put out what appeared to be a pretty sizeable blaze on the roof of the Minillas government building in San Juan. The building is used by the Depts of Family, Transportation, Medicaid and others. Damage is being evaluated, no initial reports of injuries.

El zoológico de Mayagüez cerrará permanentemente. El proceso se da por intervención federal, tras investigación de agencias como USDA y USFWS. En el zoológico se estaban violando leyes federales y se llegó a un acuerdo con el DRNA para trasladar a los animales a santuarios.
