So sorry chef. I
your restaurant & wish we could do more to support businesses like yours. What I cannot do is jail people because of their addiction or double down on the failed war on drugs. We need to make it easier to get help than it is to get high in SF.

A good citizen - one who owns a small business, pays taxes, & contributes to SF's vibrant culture - shared that she no longer feels safe at home, work, or in between bc of the unavoidable addicts & criminals.
@chesaboudin gave a nonresponse & you praised him for his compassion..2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

um yeah, he recognizes that the war on drugs is a failure and drug use is a public health issue and not to be settled by criminalizing users

This seems like a good time to call out that his job is not to select the laws he wants to enforce, but rather to uphold the laws of the land. And again, no one called for arresting addicts. But dismissing the concerns of someone for her safety when walking to her car is evil...

the DA has discretion over prosecution in their district. and chesa did not dismiss anyone's concern for their safety. he said that he couldn't jail people in furthering the failed war on drugs.
