Random topics on my mind, instead on the controversy du jour: Marvel completely mishandled the departure of Chris Claremont in the early 90s, and it's kind of stunning that one of the all-time greats could be treated that way. (1/?)

The country would be better off with a hundred thriving small cities instead of our current dozen or so tech-focused high-cost-of-living bug cities.

I’m really hoping Tom Selleck figures out how to keep that Ferrari throughout the series...Higgins is just annoying.

True for The Americans. Pilot seemed like a dumb, unsubtle action movie. Took me a long time to give it another chance, but then... what a show. Not true for my other favorites: Mad Men & Better Call Saul. Pure quality from the start.

The best pilots start "in medias res". Even then they are awkward by their nature, usually.

Lost pilot is the exception that proves the rule?

Lost; best pilot of all time. Breaking Bad was good; Dexter. Justified

Exception was The Walking Dead. One of the best pilots I remember seeing. Was bored by the end of the six episode first season, though, and never watched it again.

I stopped after 3 seasons.
