    I wrote a thing: Debates in "AI Ethics" are too much moral and too litte political philosophy. Debates should attend to questions such as how to accommodate moral pluralism, respect human agency and achieve legitimacy.

    If every car was an AV that needed occasional help from a remote driver, how many remote drivers can cover all US driving? If "occasional" is 1x/397 hours (Waymo's 2018 disengagement rate), I estimate 4,000–37,000 remote drivers splitting shifts.

    Much AI ethics would be better if people actually knew more about ethics.

    From what I can see from the contemporary AI ethics debate (and I have done my best to stay out of it, unsuccessfully), no one seems to have actually read the 1978 paper and asked whether these discussions have anything to do with the arguments presented there.
