@jhamby it's a funny world where people laugh at technologies for their origin rather than their utility

No, @marypcbuk. I'm laughing at Microsoft Tag because it's a stupid idea that failed as I expected it to, bc of its utter lack of utility.

Microsoft Tag was a failed attempt to beat QR codes, which are *also* a failed technology in the US, due to lack of enthusiasm. @marypcbuk

Microsoft Tag was as successful as the Cue Cat, another technology that's a laughingstock. Like the Zune or Kin phones. @marypcbuk

A barcode scanning wand? When you can just use a cameraphone to scan any barcode? What is Bezos thinking? @marypcbuk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CueCat

@jhamby he's thinking Amazon is in the logistics business rather than being a tech or retail or publishing company

@jhamby I find viewing Amazon as wanting to own the logistics industry explains a lot of otherwise puzzling behaviour over there

.@marypcbuk I agree. The Fire Phone had everyone confused, but it's part of a bigger play. It just got KitKat too: http://androidcentral.com/amazon-fire-phone-gets-updated-tons-new-features-plus-kitkat …

I'm convinced that the front cameras on the Fire Phone are to read microexpressions to track users' emotions while they shop. @marypcbuk

Exactly! It's tempting, and it's even *creepier* than anything that Google would likely implement first, due to the creep factor. @marypcbuk

I think Amazon has facial microexpression tracking on their list of Fire Phone future enhancements. I don't think it's there now. @marypcbuk
