I'm not disagreeing, but it's hard for me to imagine what the Linux Foundation should be doing. Everything is privatized under neoliberalism, even Open Source.https://twitter.com/zoneadm/status/1161668184686174208 …
What exactly is the purpose of the Linux Foundation besides to promote Linux, including from companies like Microsoft and other closed-source or hybrid companies? It's hard for me to get outraged at corporate interest groups being corporate interest groups. It seems inevitable.

The legal framework that protects GNU/Linux as true "open source" (by the Richard Stallman standard) is the GPL license. Nobody can take that away. The Linux Foundation could perhaps promote Linux desktops in preference to Windows with a Linux subsystem contained inside it.

But honestly, I blame the laziness of the OEMs for letting Microsoft and occasionally Google (ChromeOS) dictate the standard OS image for their machines. They could easily partner with Ubuntu, like Dell has done.
