Messi winning a World Cup while Ronaldo is busy being a whiny loser and quitting on his team would be A+

If society stopped perceiving safety as a measure of how much we can intimidate those we find threatening, our police budgets would be nominal. Safety isn't about intimidation; it's about respect — both mutual and genuine — and giving people the resources they need to be well.

Ordered Thai food for just me and they sent three sets of cutlery, so yeah, I'd say things are going great.

Also once again must express my displeasure and disgust that my councillor , supposedly a "progressive" in a progressive ward, voted against discussing the Strong Mayor powers in Council and is now hiding behind procedure. Do your job.

John Tory asked us to "trust him" he wouldn't overuse these powers and then uses them immediately. Almost like you can't trust John Tory at all! An utter bumblefuck of a mayor.

Mayor John Tory has used his strong mayor powers to appoint Paul Johnson, currently deputy city manager for community and social services, as Toronto’s new city manager. Previously this kind of thing would be subject to a council vote. toronto.ca/legdocs/mayora (PDF)

This is a major problem in Canadian establishment sports media. The egos get in the way of telling good stories. Jones, Arthur, Simmons, it's all the same shit. They need to accept that they're not the center of attention at a major event or fuck off somewhere else.

Obviously he's just doing this now because all these losers subsist on is engagement, good or bad, and I'm playing into that right now, but that's kind of the problem. If your only goal is engagement, you suck shit as a journalist and shouldn't be covering the World Cup.

Imagine watching this Canadian men's team, watching the amazing qualification games, watching this team in the literal World Cup, and deciding to die on the hill of shitting on Alphonso Davies of all people. Pathetic, loser shit.

Nothing about Canada's appearance at this World Cup was embarrassing except for our media. This team deserved better coverage than these clowns.

You’ll see that some players poured their hearts out in the mixed zone, including Atiba Hutchinson and Milan Borjan, who apologized to Canadians for his performance. For those who might be wondering… Alphonso Davies didn’t even come through. *ducking*

Bruce Arthur and Chris Jones absolutely seething as they watch Alphonso Davies do a post-game interview with TSN. This was their moment, their tournament. Think of them today.

If Davies had talked to them, Canada would be 3-0.

Both @EnswellJones and @bruce_arthur warned there’s no cheering in the press box after that embarrassing gaffe by Canada

Sid is absolutely correct here. Also notice how Bruce Arthur and his ilk have all the time in the world to criticize Alphonso Davies but when their buddy Steve Simmons writes some racist drivel, it's all silent on the dipshit front? Curious, isn't it?

In a recent CBC Sports article, the question of whether Alphonso Davies' celebrity is a problem for Team Canada arose. @Sid_Seixeiro shares his thoughts ⬇️

The bar is very very high, but this might be the dumbest sports take I've ever read. It's got everything, a media member feeling personally slighted, baseless accusations, negative comments about a Black athlete's expensive earrings. A real masterpiece of fuck.

As always, fuck Doug Ford, his government, and anyone who stands with them

#BREAKING - An Ontario court has struck down a bill that limited wages for public sector workers. The Ford governments bill 124 capped public sector wage increases to 1% per year. The court decision opens the door for unions to take the government to court for backpay.

Bold strategy from Marcus Rashford to just score on the free kick knowing that Harry Maguire can't botch a header that way
Biden identifying as a Strong Pro-Labor President in his statement siding with some world-historically shitty bosses over the workers they're grinding into the dirt is extremely funny in a The Democrats way, but not in a way I can laugh at.

Full sellout from the White House for the majority of rail workers who rejected the deal the President brokered, preemptively denying them the right to strike. This was the “which side are you on?” moment, and the White House chose the railroad bosses. whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/
