Last week, Human Rights First released a report on the escalating human rights abuses against asylum seekers that are returned to Mexico by the Trump administration. The report found that "there are at least 636 publicly reported cases of kidnapping, rape, torture, assault, and
other violent attacks against asylum seekers and migrants returned to Mexico under MPP. Among these reports are at least 138 reports of kidnappings or attempted kidnappings of children in MPP." A recent study by the U.S. Immigration Policy Center at UC San Diego found that one in four people in MPP in Tijuana and Mexicali have been threatened with physical violence while waiting for court hearings.
