So despite having a 98.5% vaccination rate with a mask & vaccine mandate, has so many breakthrough cases that they have just moved all classes online until they can assess the situation.

To be clear: This is NOT evidence that vaccinations and masks are bad policy. More vaccinations and more masks mean less transmission and milder symptoms in breakthrough cases. If more people in Texas got vaccinated and wore masks, Rice would not be in this predicament.

Put it under the academic honor code, that would help.

#BreakthroughCOVID is responsible for ~25% of daily cases in #Ontario for people w/1 or 2 shots. The & don’t seem to care about breakthrough cases that don’t result in hospitalization. They’re afraid of the embarrassment of having to backtrack their guidance.

That's because non-hospitalizations are not putting stress on public health infrastructure, and they have to worry about the people who are.

I also had a breakthrough case. I believe they are as of yet vastly under reported or underestimated.

Are the breakthrough cases coming from dormitories? They can have a mask mandate in classrooms but I doubt students are wearing masks while mingling on their floor. Also the entire floor uses the same bathroom and shower, you don’t mask while showering.

I am reading from students there now that most of the cases that came back positive are looking like false positives… we should see confirmation soon
